Fall Color Schemes: What to Know
Classically, fall colors tend to be deeper, moodier, and richer than colors we associate with spring or summer, as well as warmer than those we associate with winter. The majority of the colors and fall wedding color schemes we’ll dive into in this article adhere to that rule, but know that it is not the only option for your big day.
The neutral wedding trend is here to stay, and going for muted warm pinks, taupes, and even stone colors are a great way to add a seasonal flair to the look. Additionally, you can get inspired by upcoming fall fashion and interior design trends and mix punchier colors like matcha green and vibrant blue into a perfectly unique wedding color scheme.
The Best Colors for Fall Weddings
1. Deep Rusty Red
Rust will always be synonymous with fall, but it is predicted to be particularly popular in both the fashion and interior design worlds this autumn. Look for highly saturated rust tones to really make an impact on your day.

2. Plum
From moody blooms to table linens and bridesmaids dresses, plum is a beautiful way to make any fall wedding palette feel more luxe — and pairs beautifully with metallic accents like gold, bronze, and copper.

3. Stone
A desaturated, green-blue gray is the perfect modern neutral to include in a fall wedding color palette. In addition to looking gorgeous when rendered in satin bridesmaids dresses, it is beautiful when included as stoneware plates, vases, and more.

4. Apricot
Though typically more associated with spring and summer, apricot is the perfect way to add a bit of zing to a darker or more muted color palette. It pairs beautifully with deeper tones like plum, twilight blue, and forest green — and we love how it looks in bouquets.

5. Peach Fuzz
While more muted than apricot, Pantone’s 2024 color of the year is also a great way to add a bit of cheer to a darker fall color palette. We also love how peach fuzz looks when paired with olive greens and buttery yellows for early fall, Tuscany-inspired weddings.

6. Matcha Green
Though sage green will never go out of style for fall weddings, this year, we anticipate couples to take a cue from the fashion world and incorporate a more vibrant matcha green into fall color palettes. We love how fresh this looks, especially against traditional fall wedding colors like rust, terracotta, and even black.
7. Twilight Blue
This moody, almost purple shade of blue is a lovely addition to nearly any fall wedding color scheme. Use it to add contrast to lighter pinks and neutrals, or to play on the richness of plums, rust, and saturated yellow shades.

8. Marseille Blue
This saturated blue can work for any season, but we love how unexpected and chic it feels for a fall wedding. Use it as an accent color in deeper color schemes or pair it with energetic matcha green and apricot for a playful palette.
9. Marigold
The cheerful, golden yellow of marigolds and sunflowers are an easily overlooked — but super beautiful — color to center a fall wedding around. It of course looks amazing when incorporated into floral arrangements, but we also love the idea of using the color in accents like taper candles, napkins, and stationery.

10. Butter Yellow
If marigold is too vibrant for your tastes, butter yellow is another great way to incorporate the energetic shade into your day. Butter yellow is a natural swap for cream in most color palettes (though it pairs beautifully with cream for a color palette all on its own), and pairs especially well with rusty reds, oranges, and apricot tones.

11. Blush
Another year-round favorite, blush can be a beautiful addition to a fall wedding color palette. Ground it in the season by using it as a way to accent deeper tones in October and November, or pair it with similar desaturated shades like butter yellow, taupe, and peach fuzz for an early-fall celebration.
12. Black
Hello, drama! Black is an obvious choice for October wedding color schemes — but it also is gorgeous and unexpected when used as an accent alongside colors like rose, terracotta, and plum.
13. Dusty Rose
We’ll never fall out of love with pairing dusty rose with plum, wine, or burgundy. It is beautiful in florals, table linens, and stationery — and is a chic, almost universally flattering shade for brides skipping a white wedding dress in favor of something more colorful. (It would also look great on grooms and groomsmen!)

14. Terracotta
Another quintessentially fall shade, terracotta is one of the workhorse colors on this list. We consider this tone to be neutral, and is a great way to add an autumnal vibe to nearly any color palette.

15. Taupe
This pinky-purpley-gray shade is the perfect neutral to add to any fall wedding color palette. We especially love it for a vineyard wedding, as it pairs beautifully with red wine shades, as well as the greens and browns of the vineyard itself.
16. Forest Green
If you’re getting married by a lake or in the mountains, forest green is an obvious choice for your color scheme. It also works beautifully for city weddings, especially when dressed up with glamorous metallic, black, and white accents.

17. Chocolate
Chocolate brown has exploded in popularity over the last few years, and is a trend we see sticking around for years to come. Endlessly versatile, use chocolate to ground softer pinks and yellows firmly into fall, or let the shade stand up against equally rich hues like deep blues, rusty reds, and oranges.

October Wedding Colors
21. Ojai Romance
Colors: burnt sienna + muted green + sky blue
Venue: ranch, nature preserve, or private estate
Details: For a fall wedding in the rolling hills of California and the Southwest (or even Italy!), choose a color palette that reflects the scenery around you. Earth-inspired tones like burnt sienna, taupe, and cactus green complement a natural, arid landscape, and make for memorable fall wedding colors. Carry a sculptural king protea as your bouquet and have your bridesmaids choose their own outfit in a neutral color palette. Line the ceremony aisle with fluffy pampas grass stems, decorate reception tables with potted succulents that guests can bring home at the end of the night, and slice into your wedding cake that's decorated in colors inspired by the sunset.
22. Pumpkin Spice

24. Autumn In Umbria
Colors: spruce + olive green + sepia
Venue: private villa or historic estate
Details: This autumn color palette draws its inspiration from the colors of the Italian countryside. Imaging verdant shades of green like spruce and olive, along with pops of sepia brown for a rustic touch.
