Mount Baker in the Cascades in autumn, when the wild blueberry bushes flush an impossible coral red, and the distant snow glows periwinkle. This mountain is the landmark of my hometown in the Pacific Northwest. I made this painting after a sun-shimmering hike on the ridge with my family, holding on to the feelings of freshness and vibrancy from the mountain. I love to paint with rich colors and a swiftness that hints at the wildness of nature.
