This is a mixed media piece featuring lemons and plates arranged in a flat lay. It started with carefully selecting plates and lemons which I arranged in a million ways and photographed. These photos are my thumbnails or preliminary sketches. I love playing with light and shadows and believe that light and dark must live in the same place so in this art, like most of my flat-lay paintings, I wanted to feature light as one of the main subjects of the painting. The right photo was then selected and I referenced it during the painting process. This became a true mixed media piece through some digital retouching and I can't wait to see it HUGE in someone's dining room.
