My painting studio is in California Wine Country where the surroundings provide ample inspiration. I prefer in my subjects a departure from what one might normally expect and in the case of this painting a rich and vibrant February mustard bloom in the heart of California Wine Country meets that expectation perfectly. I chose to utilize loose, almost impressionist brushwork in creating this piece which works nicely with the vibrant colors.
