After a mountain biking trip in nearby Fruita I decided to make this photography excursion through Colorado's National Monument, which is not too far from the Utah border. The views are incredible as you wind through the pink and red monoliths, encountering wildlife like bighorn sheep along the way. I had originally planned to drive straight through the park, but because of a road closure I had to drive all the way back through the road I came in on. The detour was going to tack on an extra hour on my drive back to Denver, but I was absolutely thrilled to catch this view shortly before exiting the monument. Had it not been for the detour, I would have completely missed this perspective!
