I enjoy painting lighthouses and attempt to present them in non-traditional ways. In this painting I wanted to appreciate how a lighthouse is little more than a curiosity on a clear day, dwarfed by its surroundings, dwarfed by the sea, its purpose only a concept. I paint it from a high vantage, juxtaposed upon a large Pacific Ocean. There is a metaphor here that reminds us that there are greater things than the sentinels in our lives.
