I use hand-painted papers as the start to my process whether I'm creating small collages or larger mixed-media paintings. The papers combine here with dynamic paint strokes and marks to create an open feeling collection of interesting forms. This painting fills me with the same feeling of wonder and possible magic that I have when exploring new places. And it makes me think of Monument Valley. Of what I hope it feels like when I finally see it in person. Monuments 1 pairs beautifully with Monuments 2.
