My grandmother passed away with I was very small. For her memorial, I remember my family gathering at a gazebo on a cliff at the sea's edge to say our goodbyes. I still live just near that cliff and every year on her birthday, I go there and sit on the sand and think about what she meant to me. This piece represents her: her warm smile, her soft edges, and the lightness of her soul, forever playing Elvis and the Beach Boys in my heart.
