Like many L.A. Residents, Palm Springs has long been one of my favorite escapes from the hustle and bustle of the city since moving to Southern California. This particular image was shot on a spontaneous trip I made one August. Why I chose to venture out the desert in its hottest season, I can't completely recall, but the triple digit heat ended up being a perfect opportunity to bask in my vehicle's AC while exploring and photographing some of the city's most iconic mid-century modern architecture, including its array of cheerful colorful doors such as this. I decided to approach capturing this famous lemony yellow door in a less traditional style, with a goal of preserving its vibrant color but in a more subtle way that evokes a soft and soothing aesthetic to gently brighten your space. A slight texture has been digitally applied for added dimension and a retro vintage feel. The fifth piece in my Palm Springs collection, I hope that the finished print brings the perfect pop of desert modernism (and sunshine) into your home or business.
