I’ll never forget the first time my husband I drove through California before moving here. We set out for San Diego from Las Vegas via I-15 and I watched in wide-eyed wonder as we moved seamlessly from the desert to the mountains to the valley to the city to the sea, each region so unique and breathtakingly stunning. It was the first time in my life that I had ever experienced so much natural beauty and variety of landscapes in such a short amount of time. // California Abstract is a series subtly paying homage to The Golden State’s beloved layering of landscapes with their accompanying kaleidoscope of colors & features. Within the series, photographs of Southern California's iconic tall palms and majestic inland mountains (that also intentionally alludes to an ocean swell) are layered within captures of a textured urban building facade in sunny, desert-esque hues. This is the first of three pieces within this colorful contemporary print set.
