Human One: Anton started as a simple portrait exercise that grew into a more fully formed rendering as it progressed. It is the first in a series of rustic style portraits that will be released on an ongoing basis. This entry in the series was drawn from a live model. The background was created by washing conté over the paper with wet paper towel. After the paper was dry, the drawing was done with charcoal to build up shadow and chalk to bring in highlights, while midtones remain the color of the background.
